Based near Stroud, Cotswold Engineers are a local Structural Engineering consultancy with over 35 years design experience within the construction industry.

 

We can provide a comprehensive range of specialist consulting services across both public and private sectors.

 

Being located in the Cotswolds, we are ideally placed to serve clients in this and most surrounding areas. We currently have clients in the West Country, South Wales, the Midlands, and the South of England.​

INITIAL ADVICE

At Cotswold Engineers, we are happy to discuss your project and individual needs. We do not put pressure on you to use our services, and if required, would be happy to point you in the right direction if other professional services are required.

INSPECTION REPORTS

We can help with structural issues associated with existing structures, which can include cracking, movement, and other structural problems. We can investigate the problem and provide either verbal or a written report that offers suggestions as to the causes of the damage noted as well as recommendations on any repairs or remedial works that may be required. We offer various levels of reports, from an in-depth report, which includes photos, to a letter report, which is a more cost effective solution.

FULL DESIGN

Whether you want to remove a wall in your house or build a new bespoke building, at Cotswold Engineers, we can offer a structural design service that suits your needs. We can provide structural calculations for all standard forms of construction in line with current Building Regulations.

LIAISE WITH OTHER PROFESSIONALS

At Cotswold Engineers, we understand the numerous aspects that need to be considered during the construction process, and that various experts and professionals will inevitably be involved at different stages. Our services include liaison with these professionals - from Architects to Surveyors, Archaeologists to Geologists, and Builders / Contractors.

TECHNICAL DRAWINGS

As the structural calculations are difficult to construct from, at Cotswold Engineers, we provide technical drawings that reflect the requirements and facilitate construction on site. These drawings range from hand drawn sketches to full AutoCAD drawings, depending on your needs and budget.

GUIDANCE DURING YOUR PROJECT

As standard, Cotswold Engineers offer support and guidance throughout your project. With all construction projects, there are invariably unforeseen issues that can occur or queries regarding the structural design or the drawings / details. We are always available to answer these queries that may arise and are able to provide any additional assistance if required.

What we do best: -

  • All aspects associated with domestic works including alterations to existing dwellings or new bespoke homes.

  • Structural Steelwork, Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, and multi-storey buildings up to 5 floors.

  • Simple timber structures in either softwood, hardwood, or Glulam.

  • Loft conversions.

  • Most foundation designs including strip, trench, and reinforced.

  • Retaining wall design (Up to 4 metres retained height).

  • Production of relevant technical drawings to back up the structural design.

  • Provide general structural advice for your project.

What we don't do: -

  • Trussed rafter roofs.

  • Connections in steel work.

  • Most joint design in either softwood, hardwood, or Glulam.

  • Engineered solutions normally associated with Civil Engineering.

  • Multi-storey buildings 5 floors and over.

  • Pile design.

  • Drainage.

  • Site ground investigations.

OUR TEAM

At Cotswold Engineers, we are on hand to assist with all aspects of your project.

All of our engineers are professionally qualified structural engineers, registered with the Engineering Council, and are members of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE). ​​All projects undertaken by us benefit from the direct involvement of a fully qualified structural engineer from start to finish, to ensure that as our client, you remain confident that consistency across your project is maintained and that the value of your project is optimised.​

Our engineers can complete structural calculations from conception through to final design. Once these calculations are complete, our team can then provide structural drawings and details, which allow the contractor to build your project.

 

All of our engineers are also able to complete structural inspections and produce suitable reports on structural defects for repair, insurance, or home buyers requirements.
